Description

A late 18th-century farmhouse with four attached cottages, now reduced to three, built largely as a single range under one roof. The farmhouse and cottages are constructed of watershot coursed sandstone, with a plinth washed with white cement, and have a stone slate roof with gable and ridge chimneys. The long, single-depth range consists of six bays, featuring two front porches and two rear outshuts. The building is two storeys high, with single-storey gabled porches marking the junctions of the first and second bays, and the fourth and fifth bays. Most of the windows have been altered, but the first bay retains coupled windows on both floors, and a stepped triple-light window is present on the first floor to the right. A rear wall features two full-height outshuts, with slightly projecting rubble masonry in the centre; various windows have been inserted. Inside the third bay, there are two large chamfered beams and a roof truss with a very large chamfered tie-beam. The site has a documented history of occupancy dating back to the late 16th century, with some fabric likely surviving from the 17th century.
