Description
The Weir and District War Memorial is a granite structure that stands 3 meters high, featuring a cross atop a tapering shaft. This shaft is mounted on a square plinth, which rests on a two-stepped base.
The memorial includes inscriptions in raised lead lettering. On the horizontal arm of the cross, it reads: "PRO PATRIA." At the base of the shaft, the inscription states: "ERECTED TO/ THE MEMORY OF/ THE MEN OF/ WEIR AND DISTRICT/ WHO FELL IN THE/ GREAT WAR/ 1914 – 1918/ LEST WE FORGET."
Surrounding the memorial is a paved octagonal enclosure with two levels, defined by dry stone piers and walls. Access to the enclosure is provided by a decorated metal side gate, and a series of steps leads to the upper terrace where the memorial is located.
