Description

Ivy Cottage is a cottage dated 1776, as indicated on the lintel of the door. It is constructed of coursed sandstone rubble with quoins and has a stone slate roof, which currently lacks a chimney. The building has a simple rectangular plan, consisting of 2 bays and 2 storeys, with the gable facing the road and a further gable built against the slope.

The central doorway features plain jambs with small imposts, an extended and stepped lintel with panels inscribed "I + JL" and "1776," and a moulded slab canopy supported by beaked brackets. The first bay to the left includes a 4-light flush mullion window on each floor, while the second bay to the right has a 2-light casement window at ground level and a 2-light flush mullion window above.

On the right return wall, there is a blocked Venetian-form attic window. The rear of the cottage has a plain doorway, a 3-light flush mullion window to the left, a similar window blocked at the first floor to the right, and 2-light windows at ground level to the right and first floor to the left, along with three other modernised openings.
