Description
14 Gorse Lane is a cottage dated 1778, as indicated on the lintel. It is constructed from handmade brick with stone dressings and has a slate roof. The building features a shallow double-depth, two-bay plan and stands two low storeys high, displaying a symmetrical façade. The central board door is topped by a very large rectangular stone lintel inscribed with "L I M 1778." There are two 2-light sliding sash windows on each floor, with the ground floor windows featuring lintels similar to that above the door. The right-hand gable has a slightly projecting chimney stack and a 2-light sliding sash window at the ground floor to the rear of this. The interior has not been inspected. This cottage is listed as a good example of its type and date.
