Description
Webster's Shop, originally a barn, likely dates from the 17th century and has been altered. The exterior is of less significance than the interior, which retains two complete cruck trusses. These are of light construction and feature tie-beams, yokes, dorsals, carrying one pair of trenched purlins with slender windbraces above and below. At the apex of each truss, the blades do not meet but are linked by the yoke, with the tips of the blades clasping the diagonally-set ridge tree. The north cruck truss has been altered, with a replacement tie beam and a collar bolted to the north face of the blades. The barn is constructed with a cruck frame, clad with brick walls on the west side and north end, and has various additions to the east and south.
