Description

Snape Cottage is a cottage dated 1809, located on Back Lane in Newburgh. It features coursed sandstone rubble construction, a slate roof, and a brick chimney. The building has a double-depth, double-fronted plan and stands two storeys high with two windows that are almost symmetrical. The entrance includes a board door with a large wedge lintel above it. Each floor has two 3-light casements, all with raised sills and similar wedge lintels. Between the windows on the first floor is a shouldered datestone inscribed "A D / 1809". There is a gable chimney on the right side, while the left gable wall is rendered and has a small lean-to porch. Additionally, a lean-to outbuilding has been added to the right-hand gable.
