Description
Gisburn Cotes Hall is a house built in 1659, as indicated by the date on the door lintel. It is constructed of slobbered rubble and has a slate roof. The building is two storeys high and features a central two-storey gabled porch. The facade includes a plinth and remnants of a continuous drip course at the eaves level that returns on each gable wall.
On either side of the porch, there are sashed windows with glazing bars and plain stone surrounds on both floors. To the left of the right-hand windows is a stair window, also with a plain stone surround, glazing bars, and a central stone mullion. The first floor of the porch has a five-light double-chamfered mullioned window. The door has a chamfered surround. The gables, including the porch gable, have copings with kneelers, and there are end chimneys. The right-hand (east) gable features a projecting stack with offsets, and to its left is a double-chamfered window that has had its central mullion removed. The left-hand gable has a sashed window with glazing bars and a plain stone surround.
At the rear of the house is a wing dating from around 1800, which has windows with plain stone surrounds and square mullions in its west wall: three lights on the ground floor and two lights on the first floor.
