Description

The Castle is a house dating from the late 17th century, constructed of slobbered limestone rubble with a slate roof and sandstone dressings. It has two storeys and an attic, featuring a central gabled porch flanked by stone attic dormers and end stacks. A continuous drip course rises over the ground floor windows and continues around the porch. The windows are rebated and chamfered, with mullions. To the left of the porch, there is a five-light window and a two-light window further left. On the right side, there is a former two-light window with the mullion removed, followed by a door with plain reveals and another former two-light window with the mullion removed. The porch includes a two-light window at the front, a one-light window on the left return wall, and a door with plain reveals on the right return wall. The first floor has a four-light window on each side of the porch, with two two-light windows near each gable, and the continuous drip course is broken by the porch. The porch features a four-light window with an individual hood mould and a three-light window with a hood mould in the attic. The attic dormers have similar windows, and each stack has two diagonal caps. The south gable wall has a two-light window on each floor, while the south wall of the rear wing has a four-light window on the ground floor and a two-light window on the first floor. The interior is reported by the owner to be entirely 20th century.
