Description
Kilross Lodge is a barn built around 1800, constructed from slobbered limestone rubble and topped with a slate roof. The south wall, which faces the road, features a wide segmental-arched opening at the left end that has been partly blocked to create a window. To the right of this opening are two windows with plain reveals, along with traces of blocked door openings. The right-hand gable includes a later one-storey lean-to, while the left-hand gable has a modern wide opening and remnants of the original shippon doors. Both gables are topped with ball finials. The north wall has later lean-to shippons. Additionally, set into the left end of the south wall is a sandstone tablet with a rounded top, which is incised with the number '9'. This tablet serves as a milestone, as noted on Yates' map of 1786.
