Description

Yealand Manor is a large house dating from around 1805, attributed to the architect Francis Webster. It is constructed of limestone ashlar with a hipped slate roof. The east front has three bays and features a portico with two pairs of unfluted Doric columns, lacking bases, and a corresponding entablature. Sashed windows with glazing bars are set in plain ashlar reveals. The north wall has five bays, with a central bay projecting; four of the windows are tripartite sashes with square stone mullions. A gabled attic dormer is positioned above the central bay. The south front presents five bays, with the two outer bays projecting. Glazed sashed windows are present throughout, except for a first-floor window in the fourth bay, which has been altered to serve as a fire escape. A gabled attic dormer sits above the central bay. Inside, a cantilevered stone staircase features a swept handrail and iron stick balusters.
