Description
Langdale is a house that was formerly a vicarage, built in 1851. It is constructed of limestone rubble and has a slate roof. The building is two storeys high. All the windows are sashed with glazing bars and have plain reveals. The main facade, which faces east, features four bays, with the central two bays projecting and topped by a gable. The projecting eaves are supported by cast iron brackets. The roof is hipped, with a chimney at each end of the ridge.
On the north facade, there are three bays, and it includes a one-storey entrance porch. The porch has a gable that is designed as a wooden pediment, and the front door is located in the left-hand return wall, framed by a chamfered plain limestone surround and topped with a cornice hood. The south facade has four windows on the ground floor and three on the first floor. The west side features a low gabled wing to the south, a stair window, and two sashed windows with glazing bars. Original plans for the building are held in the Lancashire County Record Office.
