Description

A house, built in 1719 and later altered, now divided into two cottages at 3 and 5 Silverdale Road, Yealand Redmayne. The exterior is pebbledashed, with a plinth of boulders, and has a slate roof. Number 5, situated to the north, features a front door with simple surrounding trim. To the right of the door is a sash window with simple trim, alongside a small window with simple trim and old leaded panes. Two sash windows with simple trim are located on the first floor. The north gable includes a semi-circular projection for an oven, and a wooden chimney stack with projecting supports at the top. Number 3 has a modern window and door with simple trim on the ground floor, and a similar window on the first floor. Inside Number 5, a stone cornice with a curved and moulded edge sits above a modern fireplace. A grooved, imitation keystone is present in the lintel above the fireplace. To the right of the fireplace is a cupboard door carved with the initials "J A 1719".
