Description

This milestone, dating from 1769, is now used as a gate post and is located at Gib Hey Lane in Chipping. It is made of sandstone and has a square section with a shaped top. The south-west face is inscribed with "To Bla(ck) Bur(n) 10 ms," while the south-east face reads "To Clith Row 8 ms." The north-east face indicates "To Garstang 6 ms 1769." Each of the three faces features an incised hand that points in the direction of the destinations.
