Description

Nos. 39 and 41 Lowergate are early 18th-century buildings of rubble construction, finished with a cement wash. They are two storeys high, with two three-light windows on each floor, featuring hung sashes. A single window is located to the right, set within a blocked carriage entry and surrounded by stone. No. 39 has four irregular windows with stone lintels above one of the windows, and both the windows and doors are blocked. The roof is slate-covered. Originally, the buildings were likely a stable or coach block. Nos. 33 and 35 Stanley House, Nos. 39 and 41, and St Michael’s Primary School form a group.
