Description
Nos. 16 and 17 Bath Street are a mid-to-late 19th century extension to an early 18th century building. They have a single hipped pantile roof and no chimneys. Both buildings stand on a high plinth and feature glazing bar sash windows in architrave surrounds.
No. 16 has a rusticated plinth and sides, a band over the ground floor, and a rendered first floor, with 8 windows. A former central segmental headed door, now a window, is topped with a keystone. A later inserted door to the right has a six-panel door with cornice, approached by steps set at right angles.
No. 17 is constructed of painted rubble and has two windows irregularly spaced on each floor. A mid-to-late 19th century door is positioned to the right of the centre and is approached by steps with railings. The end wall facing Palmer Street retains an early 18th century elevation, consisting of five bays constructed in coursed rubble with outer piers. The windows all have architraves, with the two leftmost windows being paired. A central architrave door originally had a bracket hood, which has since been removed. A ground floor window on the right-hand side has been replaced.
