Description

Nos. 21 and 22 Eastgate are an 18th-century building of three storeys, constructed of coursed rubble with rusticated quoins. The roof is covered in pantiles with coped gable ends, kneelers, and stacks. No. 22 has two windows; the top floor has casements with glazing bars, while the other floors have hung sashes with glazing bars, all under thin lintels. The central doorway features a six-panel door with a rectangular fanlight above, flanked by plain pilasters and surmounted by a cornice on consoles. The right-hand premises, which was formerly a separate building and is set back slightly, is of similar date and construction. It has one window of three lights on each floor, with sliding sashes and glazing bars beneath lintels to the upper floors. The ground floor window has no glazing bars and a six-panel door is positioned to the right, again beneath a thin lintel. Nos. 18 to 25 and Nos. 30 to 37 form a group.
