Description
Masons Farmhouse and the barn adjoining to the south-east are located in Bashall Eaves and date from the late 17th century. The farmhouse is constructed from sandstone rubble and features a stone slate roof. It has a two-unit central-entry plan, with an original outshut and end stacks. The building stands two storeys high and has two bays. The windows consist of three lights, with an outer chamfer and inner ovolo, and ovolo-moulded mullions. The moulded doorway, which has a shaped lintel, is now covered by a modern stone porch.
The barn to the left is made of squared watershot sandstone and also has a slate roof. Its wide entrance features a moulded segmental arch with a fluted keystone, which is likely re-set. A cruck is reused as the inner lintel. The barn's roof includes trusses with tie beams, light collars, and queen struts, and the purlins are made of softwood.
