Description
Back Lane Farmhouse, dating from 1782, is a two-storey dwelling that has been altered and now incorporates an adjoining barn. The building is constructed of sandstone random rubble with quoins and features a slate roof. It has a long rectangular plan, with a double-depth, two-bay farmhouse and an added barn extending to the right.
The farmhouse has a central doorway topped with a simple moulded cornice, featuring a glass panelled door and a glazed porch. There are two flush-mullion windows on each floor, with three lights to the left and two to the right. Above the doorway, there is a datestone inscribed with "B I M 1782." The quoins indicate where the former barn connects to the house.
The barn has a blocked former wagon entrance in the center, marked by jambstones, and now includes three 3-light windows at the ground floor and four above, which match those of the farmhouse. The building also features shaped eaves brackets, a chimney at the left gable, and a modern chimney on the front wall of the former barn.
