Description

Canal Bridge (Number 22) is a public road bridge over the Lancaster Canal, built around 1797 by engineer John Rennie. It is constructed from large sandstone blocks and features an elliptical arch with triple keystones. The bridge has decorative bands, parapets with rounded coping, and pilastered ends. It forms a group with Bridge No. 23 located nearby.
