Description
No. 11 Bank Parade is a town house built around 1840, with some alterations. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring sandstone dressings and a slate roof. The building has a double-depth single-fronted plan with a back extension, standing three storeys over a basement and comprising two bays.
The ground floor includes a stone plinth, a moulded sill-band at the first floor, a plain frieze, and a moulded cornice. The entrance is located to the left, accessed by three steps, and features a doorcase with semi-columns topped with stiff-leaf caps, square abaci, and an entablature adorned with wreaths, a dentilled cornice, and a blocking course with a shallow triangular upstand. The door itself has a hollow-moulded surround and is a panelled door with a plain overlight. To the right, there is a lobby doorway with a chamfered stone surround and a shallow cornice. The central feature of the ground floor is a canted bay window that includes a cellar opening in the plinth, a raised sill, a moulded cornice with a blocking course, and altered glazing.
The upper floors have windows that do not align vertically with those below. The first-floor windows have altered glazing, with apparently lowered sills that break the sill-band but match it, and wedge lintels. The windows on the second floor are square with raised sills. The building has gable chimneys. The rear and interior of the property have not been inspected.
