Description
Nos. 6 and 7 Bank Parade are a pair of town houses built around 1840, with some alterations. They are constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring sandstone dressings and a slate roof. The houses have a double-depth plan, each being single-fronted with a back extension. They rise two storeys over a basement and have a symmetrical façade with two bays on each side.
The design includes a stone plinth, although at No. 7 it is covered with concrete blocks. There is a first-floor sill-band, a plain frieze, and a moulded cornice. The houses are designed as a reflected pair, sharing a central through-lobby with doorways located in the outer bays. The doorcases feature Ionic semi-columns with entablatures and cornices, plain jambs with imposts, and shallow elliptical fanlights. No. 6 has a panelled door, while No. 7 has a modern board door. The lobby entry is framed by a convex stone surround with a cornice and a board door.
Each house has two windows on each floor, with the first-floor windows aligned over the outer openings on the ground floor. All windows have wedge lintels, and the ground floor windows at No. 6 are sashed without glazing bars, while those at No. 7 have been altered to top-hung casements. A central chimney stack is present, and there are altered surrounds to the former cellar areas. The interior has not been inspected.
