Description
No. 8 Bank Parade is a town house built around 1840, with some alterations. The building is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring sandstone dressings and a slate roof. It has a double-depth single-fronted plan with a back extension and stands three storeys over a basement. The facade consists of two bays plus a narrow link to No. 9 on the left. It has a stone plinth, a plain frieze, and a moulded cornice.
The doorway is located to the left, accessed by two steps, and features a doorcase with engaged Ionic columns, an entablature, and a cornice. The plain jambs have imposts, and the door itself is recessed with a board design and a shallow elliptical fanlight above. To the right of the entrance is a later 19th-century two-storey canted bay, which includes segmental-headed windows on the first floor with raised-panel aprons and raised sills, though the glazing has been altered on both floors. This bay also has a moulded cornice with a blocking course. Above the door, there is one window, and there are two additional windows on the second floor, all with raised sills and altered glazing. The short link to No. 9, which is slightly set back, has a blocked former lobby doorway with a cornice. The building features a gable chimney. The interior has not been inspected.
