Description
Dixon's Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1736, located off Whittingham Lane in Grimsargh. The building features a roughcast exterior and a steeply pitched slate roof with brick gable chimneys. It has a double-depth, two-bay plan and stands two storeys tall, with an almost symmetrical façade. The doorway is offset to the right of centre and is framed by an architrave with panelled pilasters, a plain frieze, and a moulded segmental pediment. Above the door is a datestone with a fielded panel inscribed "J D 1736." There are two large square windows on each floor, all of which have been replaced with modern casements that include glazing bars. The left gable wall features one window on each floor towards the rear, along with a small attic window near the front. The rear of the farmhouse has a large modern extension. Inside, the layout consists of a four-room plan with large hacked beams, although the interior has been otherwise altered.
