Description

This barn, originally a house, dates back to the 17th century and is located to the north of No. 45, opposite the junction with Eight Acre Lane. It is constructed from slobbered limestone rubble with sandstone window dressings and has a slate roof. The barn was formerly two storeys throughout.

The wide barn entrance features plain reveals and a modern timber lintel. On the right side of the ground floor, there is a 3-light chamfered mullioned window with a hood mould, which is now almost completely blocked. On the first floor, there is a blocked 2-light chamfered mullioned window. To the left of the entrance, there is a later lean-to and a doorway with plain reveals. The first floor also has another blocked 2-light chamfered mullioned window.

Inside, the barn contains two oak trusses and an original stone wall that separates the main barn from a smaller unit at the left-hand end. On the first floor of this smaller unit, a 17th-century 3-light wooden-mullioned window is visible in the rear wall, although it is now bricked up on the outside.
