Description
No. 1B on Queen Street is a former coach house that has been converted into an office. It dates from the mid-18th century and underwent alterations in the 20th century. The building features sandstone ashlar in narrow courses on the front, with coursed rubble that is partly rendered on the sides and rear, topped with a slate roof. It has a rectangular plan that runs at right angles to the street and includes a chimney stack on the left-hand wall.
The street-facing side is two storeys high and consists of one bay with chamfered quoins. The entrance to the coach house is centrally located, featuring plain jambs and a segmental arch. Above the entrance is a 20th-century casement window, along with a blocked owl hole that has quadrant keystones in the gable. To the left of the main structure is a slightly later single-storey extension that includes a single plain sash window. The roof of this extension is a catslide that extends from the coach house roof but is hipped at the front. The building is included for its group value with other nearby structures.
