Description
No. 3 Queen Street is a house, now converted into flats, dating from around 1800, with alterations and extensions made in the mid-19th century. It is constructed from sandstone ashlar in narrow courses and has slate roofs. The building has a double-depth plan with an extra-long rear extension to the right. It stands three storeys above a basement, which is expressed as a plinth of larger stones, and features three bays. The first and second floors have torus-moulded sill bands.
The doorway has plain reveals made of deep stones, a simple cornice, and a door with nine raised and fielded panels that have re-entrant corners, topped by a margin-glazed overlight. Access to the door is via a double flight of four nosed steps, with railings made of stick balusters and urn finials on turned standards. All windows have plain reveals of deep stones and feature four-pane sashes. The ground-floor windows are tripartite with semicircular mullions. The front range of the building does not have any chimneys, and at the rear, there is a tall stair window.
