Description
SD 66 NW WRAY-WITH-BOTTON
2/128 Farm store adjoining at right 4-10-1967 angles, north of Park House Farmhouse
GV II
Farm store, originally part of house, late C17th. Sandstone rubble with stone slate roof. 2 storeys. East wall has rebated and chamfered mullioned windows, of 2 lights and 3 lights with hoods on the ground floor and of 2 lights above. The west wall has a 2-light window on each floor. To the right is a ground-floor window with plain reveals and a one-light chamfered window above. The southern gable wall is watershot. The northern gable wall has a large projecting stack with offsets. To the left on each floor there is a one-light chamfered window with segmental head, the ground-floor one blocked, the 1st floor one with hood. To the right there is a door with plain reveals. Inside the 3 axial main ceiling joists are ovolo-moulded, the western one on one edge only and with mortises for a partition wall in the soffit. The other 2 main joists appear to be re-used crucks. The common joists have an edge-roll moulding. The wide fireplace opening has a moulded surround with segmental arch. The roof truss appears to be a later replacement in pine. The size of the building, together with the watershot south wall and lack of an original doorway suggests that it is the remaining part of a larger house.
