Description
New Capernwray Farmhouse is a house dated 'TGE 1697' on the lintel. It is constructed of slobbered rubble with a slate roof and has a T-plan layout. The front range features a central entry flanked by gable stacks and is two storeys high with two bays. The windows are modern and set in plain stone surrounds. The chamfer of the door jambs continues around the shaped lintel. There is a continuous drip course on the ground floor, which is interrupted by later windows. Traces of earlier surrounds to mullioned windows can be seen in the stonework. The left-hand (south-west) gable has a door and a window on the first floor, both with plain reveals. The rear wing has three windows with plain reveals on the south-west wall, along with a chamfered door surround featuring a triangular head to the right. The right-hand gable has a stack with a shallow projection and a modern window with plain reveals on the first floor.
