Description

Gamekeeper's Tower is likely a shooting lodge built in the early 19th century. It is constructed from sandstone rubble and has a square plan with a projecting turret at the west end of the north wall. The building stands three storeys tall. The windows feature plain reveals and two-centred heads. The east wall has windows on the ground and second floors, while the south wall has windows on the ground and first floors. The west wall contains a window on the second floor. The turret's east wall has a narrow light with a pointed head on both the first and second floors, and a similar opening is found on the north side at ground level. The tower is topped with a battlemented parapet. Attached to the west wall is a single-storey lean-to, which currently has no roof. This lean-to includes a window in its south wall with a pointed head and plain reveals, as well as a similar door in its north wall, which has been repaired with a concrete lintel.
