Mallowdale Farmhouse And Farm Building Adjoining To West In Same Range

Mallowdale Farmhouse and the adjoining farm building to the west were built in the late 18th century. They are constructed of sandstone rubble and topped with a stone slate roof. The farmhouse has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys high. The north facade features two bays, each with three-light windows that have flat-faced mullions and plain stone surrounds. Between the bays, there is a single-storey gabled porch, which includes a window with a plain stone surround in its front wall. A door with plain reveals is located in the right-hand return wall. The farmhouse has end chimneys.

To the right of the farmhouse, the farm building has a wide doorway with plain reveals and a timber lintel. Adjacent to this doorway is a two-light mullioned window made from re-used 17th-century dressings. The left-hand (east) gable wall of the farmhouse is keyed, but there is currently no building adjoining that side. On the south side, there is a single-storey porch that features a re-used 17th-century door surround, which is chamfered and has a triangular head.
