Description
The St Oswald's War Memorial is situated in the churchyard of the Church of St Oswald in Knuzden. It features a Latin cross with moulded ends and a patte cross at the intersection of the arms. The memorial has a carved collar and is set atop a tapering shaft, which rests on a tapering plinth and a two-stepped base. Surrounding the steps is a low stone kerb with small pillars at each corner.
The inscription on the memorial reads: "ERECTED BY THE PARISHIONERS AD 1921 IN GRATEFUL AND LOVING MEMORY OF THE MEN OF ST OSWALD'S CHURCH AND SCHOOL WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR GOD, KING AND COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 – 1918. GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN THIS. (NAMES)"
