Description
No. 53 Drinkhouse Road is a farmhouse, now a house, likely dating from the late 17th century and altered over time. It is built of brick on a stone base and is painted white, topped with a grey tiled roof featuring a chimney at the left gable. The building has a two-bay end-baffle-entry plan, with a former shippon at the left end that has been altered and is not included in this listing.
The structure is two storeys high and features a 3-coursed band. At the left end, there is a segmental-headed doorway, and on the ground floor, two 3-light casements are present, along with 3-and 2-light casements above, all now flanked by ornamental shutters. The rear of the building includes a notable 3-light brick mullion window at the first floor.
Inside, the housepart in the first bay contains an inglenook fireplace with a heck wall and a stop-chamfered bressummer, along with a similarly decorated lateral beam. On the first floor, there are remains of a firehood.
