Description
This is a house, now divided into two dwellings, dating to 1704, with later alterations. The building is constructed of handmade brick with a stone slate roof. It has a double-depth, two-bay plan and extends over three storeys. The brickwork shows bands of three and two courses on the first and second floors respectively. The centre of the first floor features a carved stone cartouche, lettered in relief with “PBPB” (the second pair in reflected reversal and intertwined), and the date 1704.
A doorway with a gauged brick head is located at the right-hand end (No. 13), while another doorway with a segmental brick head is at the left end (No. 15). No. 13 has two segmental-headed four-pane sashes at ground floor, one above at first floor, and a two-light sliding sash at second floor. No. 15 features a large tripartite sash window at ground and first floors, with three panes in each principal leaf, and a nine-pane sash above. All windows have splayed brick heads. A four-flue chimney is visible on the ridge and a three-flue chimney at the left gable. The left gable was remodelled after the demolition of an adjoining property, and now has coupled four-pane casements at ground and first floors, with two similar windows above at second floor. The rear of the building has long outshuts; the one at No. 15 is under a carried-down roof, and the other is slightly lower. The interior has not been inspected.
