Description

This is a mid-19th century house, altered over time. It is built of red brick with stone dressings, and has a low-pitched slate roof with a chimney running along the ridge. The house has a small, single-depth, two-bay plan.

The front facade has two storeys. A doorway, set two steps up and offset to the left, has a chamfered arched stone surround and a hoodmould. To the left of this doorway is another doorway, now mostly blocked but with a window in its head. Two windows are visible on each floor to the right of the doorway, all originally vertical rectangular, but now altered to top-hung casements. These windows also have hoodmoulds matching that over the front doorway. A single window, similar to those on the front, is visible on each floor of the right return wall, overlooking the churchyard of St. Michael’s Church.

The house adjoins the right ends of numbers 12 and 14 on Church Street, projecting slightly in front of them and in front of the general building line of that side of the street. It is listed for group value.
