Description

Hey House Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century, which has been altered. It is constructed of handmade brick and has a slate roof. The building features a three-bay baffle-entry plan and stands two storeys tall. There is a 3-course band at the second and third bays, and a gabled single-storey porch aligned with the ridge chimney at the junction of the first and second bays. The inner door is made of wood and has strap hinges. To the right of the porch, there are two large segmental-headed windows with splayed brick heads at the ground floor, and two square windows above, all with altered glazing. On the left side, there is one similar window on each floor. The farmhouse has a chimney on the ridge and another at the right gable.

Inside, there are back-to-back inglenook fireplaces in the first and second bays. The first bay has one rounded beam, while the second bay features two ovolo-moulded lateral beams. In the rear corner of the second bay (the housepart), there is a doglegged staircase with splat balusters, along with two service doors at the lower end of this room. Historically, the gable of the barn to the west of the farmhouse is lettered with a reversed "N" and "Y I 1688".
