Description

Fishery Bridge is a road bridge built in the early to mid 18th century. It is constructed from sandstone and features a single span aligned north-south over the River Yarrow. The bridge has a single segmental arch made with voussoirs and includes a dressed string band positioned below the parapet and wing walls. The roadway consists of a concrete saddle and tarmac surface, with a two coursed humped parapet that was raised by one course in the 20th century. The wing walls end with capped pilasters and steel cramped saddleback coping. On the inner east face of the parapet coping stones, there is a centrally inscribed inscription reading ‘C C Fishery Bridge’, along with painted hazard chevrons located at the south end of the bridge.
