Description

57 Town Road is a house that has been converted into an office, likely built in the late 18th century and altered over time. The building is constructed of handmade brick and has a stone slate roof. It has an L-shaped layout with a single-depth, three-bay front and a rear wing attached on the right side.

The house is two storeys tall and is almost symmetrical, featuring gable end chimneys. The doorway is slightly off-center and has a wooden surround with fluted jambs or pilasters and a triangular head that mimics a pediment. There are two segmental-headed 16-pane windows on each floor, along with a blocked window in the center of the first floor. The upper windows have keystones set in gauged brick heads.

On the right gable, there are remnants of a first-floor band, and a lean-to porch is located at the angle with the projecting rear wing. This rear wing includes stone quoins at the ground floor towards the back, and beyond it, there is an added stable. The rear of the building features a four-pane sashed stairlight, a two-light casement window at ground level, and two two-light casements above. The interior has not been inspected.
