Description
Tattersall Barn Farmhouse and the attached barn, now functioning as a house, likely dates from the mid-18th century and has been altered over time. The building is constructed of coursed sandstone rubble with quoins, and part of it features watershot coursed sandstone. It has a stone slate roof and no chimney. The structure has a rectangular plan, comprising a two-bay house and a three-bay barn that continues to the right.
The farmhouse is two storeys high and features a modern single-storey gabled porch at the left end. There are two 2-light flush mullion windows on each floor. The barn has a lean-to porch attached to the first bay, with the junction marked by quoins at the first floor of the house. The barn's original wagon entrance has been converted into a garage door, and there is another doorway at the right-hand end.
On the left gable, there is an inserted window at ground floor level and two 2-light windows above, which have restored mullions. The rear of the building shows various signs of previous alterations, including ragged tear lines in the random rubble center that suggest a former rear outshut, and a stepped junction of the barn, with lower quoins belonging to the barn and upper ones to the house. There are several blocked openings at ground level, likely due to the ground being built up for the road, and modern flush mullion windows have been inserted at the first floor of the barn. The interior has not been inspected.
