Description
No. 11 Market Place is a town house that has been converted into a shop and offices. It likely dates from the mid-18th century and has undergone significant alterations. The building is constructed of rendered brick and features a slate roof. It has a narrow rectangular plan positioned at right angles to the street, located at the corner of The Weind. The structure stands three and a half storeys tall and has two windows. The ground floor has been replaced by a 20th-century shop front.
The upper floors display quoins on the right side and sill bands on all levels, with two windows on each floor. All windows have moulded architraves and are sash windows without glazing bars, with the top-floor windows being square in shape. The return elevation facing The Weind features three-light mullioned and transomed windows, with the lower parts retaining Yorkshire sashes. At the time of the survey, the upper floors were only partly occupied. Additionally, the upper floor of No. 2 The Weind has a taking-in door supported by two massive stone landing board supports. The building forms part of a group with Nos. 4 to 14 The Weind.
