Description
Moss Cottage is a cottage dating back to approximately the 17th century, with some elements from the 18th century. It features "RL 1666 HL" inscribed on the dormer window, likely referencing Robert and Helen Lewis. The construction incorporates whitewashed brick, timber framing, and a thatched roof. The cottage consists of two units, one storey in height with an attic, and a parallel range added to the rear around 1960. The front features a door to the right unit, flanked by 20th-century two-light casement windows. A former door has been blocked on the left side. A pitched dormer window above has four lights and an inscribed tie beam. The cottage features gable ridge stacks and exposed framing on the right gable. The interior reveals exposed timber-framed internal walls, chamfered beams, and roof members. The cottage was originally built for farm labourers associated with Moss Farm.
