Description
The Old House is a house dating from 1688, as indicated by the internal door lintel, although it has undergone extensive alterations and additions at various later dates. It features square-panel timber framing with roughcast additions, all covered by a 20th-century tile roof. The house has a three-unit plan, likely with a through-passage, and includes a projecting crosswing on the left, along with extensive additions on both sides. The later porch currently provides access to the crosswing, although it may have originally led to a through passage. The building has one storey plus an attic, with a rendered stone plinth, angle braces, and decorative framing on the crosswing gable, as well as two dormer gables. Each unit has two three or four-light leaded casements, some of which are likely from the 18th century. The rear of the house is roughcast and features a canted bay window. The interior has been significantly altered but still retains ovolo-moulded and chamfered beams.
