Description
Howard's Farmhouse and adjoining cottages are three houses built in the early to mid-18th century, possibly incorporating earlier structures. They are constructed of watershot stone and feature a graduated stone slate roof. Each house is double-depth and has three storeys, except for the right house, which has two and four storeys, making a total of nine bays.
The left house includes stone quoins, a projecting plinth, and a central square-cut stone door surround. It has 4-light windows in bay 1, 2-light windows in bay 2, and 4-light windows in bays 3, 5, and 7, all with recessed cavetto-moulded stone mullions. The middle house features a central door and 2-light recessed chamfered stone mullion windows in bays 1 and 4-light windows in bay 2. The right house has recessed flat-faced stone mullion windows, with the end bay recessed and featuring a square-cut door surround and 3-light chamfered mullion windows across three floors. At the rear, there is a small 19th-century range, along with a 4-light cavetto-moulded window and a hoodmould that may date from the 17th century.
