Description
Fairbanks Farmhouse and Cottages is a house and two cottages built in the early to mid-18th century. The structure is made of hammer-dressed watershot stone and features a graduated stone slate roof. It is a double-depth house with three storeys and three bays, along with a three-bay, three-storey wing at the rear left that dates from the late 18th century. There is a blocked door between the first and second bays, framed with a dressed surround. The ground floor has windows with four, four, and six lights, while the first floor has three four-light windows and the second floor has three, three, and four-light windows. All windows have recessed cavetto-moulded stone mullions. The top storey appears to have been added, likely in the late 18th century, and it reuses earlier windows. There are three rendered ridge chimney stacks and a square-cut door surround on the right gable. The rear wing, which was built in two phases, generally features a three-light recessed flat-faced stone mullion window in each bay on each floor, with some windows retaining their original leaded panes.
