Description

Back o'th'Lee is a late 18th-century house, barn, and cottage located in Diggle, Saddleworth. The building was later extended in the 19th century to create a cottage. It is constructed of hammer-dressed watershot stone with a graduated stone slate roof. The house itself is a two-bay, two-storey structure, with a cottage to the left and a barn to the right. A central doorway is accessed via a 20th-century porch. A blocked taking-in door is found on the first floor, flanked by a three-light and a two-light recessed flat-faced stone mullion window. The gabled cottage wing has 19th-century window openings, and a 20th-century porch. The barn to the right features a segmental-headed cart entry and a shippon door. Ridge chimney stacks are visible. The rear elevation displays quoins, along with two-light and five-light ground-floor windows, and four-light and two-light first-floor windows, all with mullioned stone surrounds.
