Description

Strawberry Hill is a house built in the 18th century, with additions and alterations made in the early 19th century. It features rendered stone with a dressed stone wing on the left and stone slate roofs. The house is double-depth with four bays and two storeys, including an older wing on the left, which was likely always a farm building, and another at the rear. The first three bays display a Regency style, characterized by a projecting plinth, a first-floor sill band, an eaves band, and a parapet, along with five sash windows that have plain surrounds and glazing bars. The six-panel door in the third bay is flanked by side panels and topped with a semi-elliptical overlight, a keystone, and a flat canopy supported by columns. The fourth bay is lower, featuring a sash window on the ground floor and a two-light flat-faced stone mullion window on the first floor. The left wing is notably gabled and projects significantly. The rear of the house, dating from the 18th century, includes two, three, and four-light flat-faced stone mullion windows, an arched staircase window from the 19th century, and two doors—one with an ornate radial fanlight and the other blocked. Inside, there is a dogleg staircase and an early 19th-century fireplace.
