Description

Mount Cottage is a house built in the late 18th century and mid 19th century. It is constructed of watershot stone and ashlar, topped with a stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high and features three bays, following a double-depth central-staircase plan. To the right, there is a three-bay addition that includes a carriage entry and a bay window.

The central door is framed by moulded architraves, and there are four 16-pane sash windows along with one 20th-century replacement, each with stone heads, sills, and jambs. The house has an eaves frieze and cornice, with gable stacks. The later addition on the right has a first bay that projects significantly, featuring a rusticated canted bay window with a parapet and a tripartite window above. The other two bays of the addition include an arched carriage entry on the ground floor and two sash windows on the first floor, with detailing that matches the original house.

At the rear, there is an arched stair window and a total of seven original sash windows with glazing bars.
