Description
Wood Farmhouse is a farmhouse that features the date "IAL 1682" on its door lintel, although it shows evidence of construction from various periods. The building is made of coursed rubble with ashlar dressings, topped with a graduated stone slate roof and brick stacks. It has a three-unit baffle-entry plan and stands two storeys tall with three bays; the first bay is gabled, and the third bay projects as a gabled crosswing.
There is a projecting plinth and quoins on the porch in the second bay, which has a chamfered door surround, a shaped inscribed lintel, and an inscribed stone "IL" within the gable. The ground floor has two windows, while the first floor has three, with the central window being a gabled dormer. All windows are three-light chamfered stone mullion windows. The farmhouse features a ridge chimney stack, a gabled dormer window on the right side, and three gables at the rear, along with a 20th-century extension. Inside, there are chamfered ceiling beams.
