Description
Lower Danbank Farmhouse is a mid-18th century farmhouse built of Flemish bond brick on a red sandstone plinth, topped with a graduated stone slate roof. The building features a double-depth central-staircase plan and stands three storeys tall. Notable architectural elements include a projecting stone plinth, brick bands on the first and second floors, and gable chimney stacks.
The central porch is recessed and has a semi-circular head. There are two ground floor windows and three first floor windows, all with stone sills, wedge lintels, and 20th-century casements. The attic contains two horizontally sliding sash windows with glazing bars and timber sills. The gables are crow-stepped and adorned with stone copings.
On the left gable, there are three windows; the ground floor window has been enlarged and features a cambered brick arch, while the first floor has a segmental brick arch and the second floor has a flat brick arch. The rear of the farmhouse is rendered and includes a central door and a 20th-century conservatory. Inside, there is a closed string dogleg oak staircase with turned balusters and a deep handrail.
