Description
The lychgate at Monton Unitarian Church, erected in 1895, is possibly designed by T. Worthington. It is constructed from ashlar stone and features elaborate cast-iron gates. The lychgate has gables at both the front and rear, framing a pointed archway in the Gothic Revival style. The arch is heavily moulded and includes side colonnettes and a hoodmould with carved angelic stops. Above the arch, within the coped gable, is a carved figure set in a canopied niche, accompanied by the inscription: "In memory of Henry Leigh." The structure is further enhanced by cross finials and has two weathered and gableted buttresses on either side.
