Description
Burn Farmhouse and the adjoining barn is a mid-18th century laithe-house. It is constructed of hammer-dressed watershot stone and features a graduated stone-slate roof. The building has a two-bay, two-storey layout, with the barn and shippon located to the left and a continuous outshut at the rear of the entire range. The farmhouse has a central door with a raised dressed stone surround and a small blocked overlight above it. The first bay contains a four-light window on each floor, while the second bay has a five-light window, all featuring recessed chamfered stone mullions. Much of the barn and shippon, as well as the right gable, have been rebuilt in the 20th century, including the segmental-arched cart entry.
